Moving to new URL

I am going to spend the next few days moving my posts over to

www.ruthlharding-im.com

That’s where you will find me as I continue this journey.  I can add more widgets and do more things on my own hosted site.

The coaching is coming along and I want to keep you up to speed on that.  Week two is over and both my sites were indexed without any content.  I am getting traffic already even though I have nothing on them.  That will change in the next few days as I catch up on the lessons.

I have set myself a goal to make $1000 in the next month.  I will let you know day by day how I am doing.

see you on the other site!

I Have a Business Partner

As you know from the various posts here, I suck at anything technical.  This has seriously impeded my ability to move forward with my plans on the internet. It has also driven me to tears of frustration at times.

I am happy to say that I now have a business partner who will take care of the tech side of the house.  She will build and upload sites, I will provide the content.  This relationship began just a short couple of months ago when she answered a post I made on the Warrior Forum about trading writing for tech help.

Funnily enough, we still haven’t done that, but we have communicated about lots of other things.  Just yesterday I asked if she wanted to join up to do some things online and she said yes.

Lucky me!  She is a fabulous person to work with and has amazing graphic design skills as well.  She is already working on laying out my first eBook and doing an ecover.

The timing is so good for both of us that we are about to advertise our first website for sale.  Not bad, from partnership to saleable product in 24 hours.  Flipping is hot right now so we are going to start here.  I will keep you posted of course.

How to Upload WordPress

After struggling and giving up I finally found a website that has step-by-step videos on how to upload wordpress to your website.  It shows the 5 minute  install via Fantastico (which should be on your cPanel) and also the manual install that takes about 10 minutes.

I was able to instantly see where I have been going wrong.  I recommend this to anyone like me who doesn’t know the tech stuff.

Here is the site:

Freelance Writing

I have been so busy doing freelance writing that I haven’t had time to post on any of my websites.  Not good.  But what do you do when you need to make money for the everyday basics while at the same time you know you could make money if you just had time to spend on monetizing your website?

My attempts to balance the two just haven’t worked.  Making the immediate money seems to win out every time.

Freelance writing has been making a huge difference but it isn’t for the faint hearted.  I started out on freelancer.com and my first three contracts brought in very good money.  I did two academic articles that paid $200 each, and then about 10 blog posts that paid $100.    Since then it’s been much less of a fee for the same amount of work.

The biggest problem of course is the amount of time the research takes.  This is more of an issue when writing blog posts; if you are not familiar with the subject then you have to do some research.  Without the research the posts are not much better than spam and you don’t get paid.

So, I am doing this for now as I figure out where to find the time to keep my other sites going.  Is anyone else freelancing?  Any tips or tricks you can send my way?

Storage Solutions

You might wonder what a post about storage solutions is doing here.  I have just had to put all my worldly goods into storage.  Trying to find somewhere was a pain as everyone else seemed to be looking as well.  That got me thinking about the state of the economy and foreclosures, and, I was wondering about how many people were paying a small fortune on monthly storage.

So I got to thinking that many people could make extra money just by renting a room or garage or secure outbuilding for storage.  Now I know why I see storage units going up everywhere!  Everyone needs one.

If you are looking for some great free info to get you started making some money from storage, you might be interested in what I am looking at.
